What's new in Ethyx since v1.4

If you read our v1.4 release post, you already know about compare chat, the privacy wedge, and cognitive format—how Ethyx structures replies for easier follow-through. Since then, v1.5 through v1.9 adds ways to explore alternate paths, bring context from other assistants, close the loop from plan to calendar, and reuse prompts as skills—including folding response length, personality, and format into that same skills system in v1.9.

Explore alternate paths — conversation fork (v1.5)

Fork copies an entire conversation through the latest completed turn into a new, independent thread—so you can try a different direction without losing the original.

• Open the history overflow menu or the conversation action bar and choose Fork conversation
• The fork keeps message history, composer preferences, project association, and duplicated generated images where applicable
• The sidebar shows lineage with a Fork of … badge

Compare mode (v1.4) still runs parallel model candidates in one conversation and collapses to a winner. Fork keeps both histories for side-by-side review later.

Sign in with Google (v1.5)

New accounts can Continue with Google on the web. Google proves identity; Ethyx creates or links your account through a dedicated OAuth flow.

• Invite codes are still required for new sign-ups during closed test
• After Google sign-in, complete first name, last name, and birthday on the profile completion step
• Returning linked users sign in normally; MFA still applies when enabled on your account

Apple sign-in and linking or unlinking Google from Settings are deferred follow-ups.

Import assistant context (v1.6)

Bootstrap Ethyx with profile and memory-style context from other AI apps through a guided copy-paste workflow on Account settings.

• Per-provider flows for ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Grok—each with steps and a copyable export prompt
• Paste into Ethyx, save or clear per provider; content is stored encrypted like your other prompt text
• Imported text merges into chat system context alongside Custom Instructions—it does not replace project-level instructions

This is not automatic sync, official export-file parsing, or importing old conversation threads as Ethyx chats.

Chat to Done (v1.7)

v1.4’s Checklist cognitive format opened the door; v1.7 closes more of the executive-function loop—plan, act, schedule, and re-enter.

Interactive checklists

When an assistant reply contains markdown task lists (- [ ] / - [x]), completed turns render interactive checkboxes in chat.

• Tap items as you finish them; completion state persists across reloads
• A progress affordance shows how many items are done (for example, “3 of 7 done”)
• Works on any assistant reply with task-list markdown—not only when Checklist format is selected

Add to Google Calendar

With Google Calendar connected, turn plan items into scheduled time.

• Add to Calendar on a checklist item opens a prefilled modal (title, date/time, calendar picker)
• Ask the model to schedule events in chat—it can create calendar entries when Calendar is available
• Existing Calendar connections may need a one-time reconnect to grant event-creation scope

Ethyx does not edit or delete events after creation, and completing an event in Google Calendar does not auto-check the chat item.

Re-entry recap (“Where was I?”)

Return to a conversation you have not opened in a while and see a dismissible recap card at the top of the thread.

• Built from existing data only—context summary excerpt, last assistant snippet, open checklist counts—no extra LLM call
• Dismissal is remembered per conversation; Jump to last checklist appears when open items exist

Chat skills (v1.8)

Skills are reusable, provider-agnostic prompt snippets—routines you set up once and attach where you need them.

• Your skills — create named prompts on the Skills account page (Instruction, Prepend, or Append mode)
• Starter skills — curated catalog including Humanize, Proofread, Explain like I'm 12, TL;DR, meeting actions, and more
• Instruction skills shape how the AI responds (system-level rules); Prepend and Append add text before or after your message on each turn
• Attach skills per conversation from the composer Skills picker; set default skills on your account or per project so new chats inherit them
• Attach up to 15 skills per conversation (raised in v1.9); the picker warns when conflicting curated groups overlap but does not block attach

The composer shows an attached summary when several skills are active; Manage skills links to your library.

Style and format as skills (v1.9)

Response length, AI personality, and cognitive format—previously separate composer and preferences controls—now live in the Skills picker as curated system skills.

• Grouped sections in the picker: one choice each for length, personality, and format; multi-select for starter and custom skills
• App default in each style group clears that group’s skill id (balanced length and personality stay implicit)
• Browse system skills and set account defaults inline on the Skills page; the same picker remains on Preferences for convenience
• Interactive checklist UI in chat still follows the Checklist format skill—select it in Skills when you want checkbox-oriented replies

Search speed, models, image settings, reveal speed, fonts, and custom instructions remain dedicated controls—not skills.

What stayed out of scope

We are still deferring, among other items:

• Fork at an arbitrary message in history; sidebar nesting under the parent thread
• Apple OAuth and account linking or unlinking in Settings
• Automatic parsing of official ChatGPT, Claude, or Google export files
• Skill marketplace, share links, and executable or scripted skills
• A cross-conversation open-tasks dashboard and LLM-generated “catch me up” recaps
• Full native mobile parity for the grouped skills picker (Flutter work tracks the web release)
