FAQ

Straight answers about providers, lock-in, encryption, MFA, and pricing during closed beta.

What is Ethyx?

Ethyx is a full AI platform in the browser: streaming chat, web search, image generation, projects, workflows, encrypted history, and optional MFA—wired to major providers so you are not stuck in one vendor’s app.

Is Ethyx just a thin proxy or model router?

No. Routing models is table stakes. Ethyx keeps your workspace—history, projects, skills, compare mode, workflows, Drive/Calendar integrations, and account security—so switching models does not mean starting over in another product.

Which AI providers does Ethyx support?

OpenAI, Anthropic, xAI, DeepSeek, Kimi, Gemini, and Perplexity, with a public model catalog for chat and image models. More providers are planned.

Does switching models lock me into one vendor?

No. Your conversations and projects live in Ethyx. You can pick Auto or an explicit model per turn without exporting chats to another subscription’s silo.

What do upstream providers see?

Providers receive the prompt text (and attachments when you send them) over HTTPS to generate a reply. Ethyx encrypts chat history at rest and can pseudonymize identity fields before requests—that is not end-to-end encryption and not a zero-retention guarantee.

Is chat end-to-end encrypted?

No. Chat is encrypted at rest in our database with keys stored separately, and connections use HTTPS. Upstream providers still see prompts for inference. We say that plainly.

How much does Ethyx cost?

Closed beta uses an invite code today. Subscriptions are planned after closed beta (from $5/month, subject to change) with usage allowances—not per-feature gating. Pricing is not final until billing launches.

When will pricing be available?

Public pricing and checkout open after closed beta. Until then, access is invite-code only. We will publish plan details on the site when billing launches; amounts and allowances may still change before then.

Why pay when LibreChat is free?

LibreChat is excellent if you want to self-host and manage your own provider keys, updates, and ops. Ethyx is a managed multi-model client: one workspace with encrypted history, projects, skills, workflows, Drive/Calendar, and cognitive formats—without running your own stack. If self-hosting is your preference, stick with LibreChat.

What happens to my data at providers?

When you send a prompt, the upstream model provider receives that text (and attachments you include) over HTTPS to generate a reply. Ethyx encrypts chat history at rest and can pseudonymize identity fields before requests. That is not end-to-end encryption and not a zero-retention guarantee—providers’ own retention and training policies still apply.

Does Ethyx support MFA?

Yes. Optional authenticator-app (TOTP) and email OTP factors, recovery codes, and trusted devices are available from Security settings after sign-in.

Where can I see model pricing and capabilities?

The public model catalog lists list-price bands, speed tiers, reasoning support, and when-to-use guidance. Catalog prices are reference list prices—not your Ethyx invoice.

How is Ethyx different from ChatGPT?

ChatGPT is a single-provider product. Ethyx is a multi-provider platform with shared history, projects, workflows, and honest data handling so you can choose the right model without vendor lock-in. See the Ethyx vs ChatGPT comparison page for details.
