Ethyx v1.1: Images in chat, stronger MFA, and accessibility

Editor's note: These are historical release notes. Bring-your-own-key (BYOK), mentioned below, was retired in v1.2—provider access is now included with your Ethyx account.

v1.1 built on the v1.0 foundation with richer chat workflows, safer accounts, and a formal accessibility bar. Here are the highlights.

What we accomplished

• Inline image generation in chat—an explicit Image mode in the composer puts generated images in the same conversation timeline as text, persisted in history after refresh.
• Stronger multi-factor authentication—Email OTP shipped alongside TOTP, with full MFA setup and recovery flows in Account Settings (no longer hidden behind a feature flag).
• DeepSeek support—DeepSeek Chat and DeepSeek Reasoner joined the model catalog as first-class providers, with the same BYOK and usage patterns as existing integrations.
• Dedicated account pages—Preferences and API Keys moved out of the account flyout into focused settings surfaces for model defaults, search mode, custom instructions, and key management.
• Accessibility as a release gate—a formal WCAG 2.2 AA audit, structural fixes (skip links, landmarks, form errors, reduced motion), and eslint-plugin-jsx-a11y in CI so contrast and keyboard issues are caught before merge.

What stayed out of scope

SMS OTP, native mobile, teams, external drive integrations, and first-party billing remained deferred. The standalone Images workspace also stayed available alongside chat-based generation.

What's next

v1.1 proved we could extend chat beyond text without breaking the provider-agnostic design. v1.2 would pivot positioning toward Ethyx-managed access, promo codes, and Google Drive—while keeping the v1.1 chat and MFA stack intact.
