Tailoring your resume with AI — without making things up

The problem with asking a chatbot to "improve my resume" is that it will. Enthusiastically. It will sharpen your bullet points, and somewhere in the process it may also promote you, add a metric you never measured, or gift you a certification you don't hold. You might not even notice until an interviewer asks about it.

Ethyx's Resume Tailor workflow was built around a single non-negotiable rule: the model reframes and reorders what you actually did — it never invents experience, credentials, or metrics.

How a run works

Resume Tailor is a guided workflow, not a single prompt. You start it from the Workflows page, paste in your current resume and the job posting, and the run moves through defined steps:

1. Intake. The workflow extracts what it actually knows from your resume and the posting.
2. Gap-fill questions. If something important is missing—dates, scope, outcomes—it asks you rather than guessing. A couple of short rounds, and you can skip what you don't want to answer.
3. Company research. A research pass looks into the company and role so the tailoring speaks to what the posting actually values, not generic keywords.
4. Tailored resume and cover letter. You get both as clean markdown artifacts you can copy or download.
5. Review and revise. Not happy with a section? Send revision notes. Revisions are capped per run, so the workflow converges instead of looping forever.

Because runs execute in the background, you can close the tab mid-run and come back—the workflow waits at its next checkpoint.

The honesty mechanism: [confirm]

Here is the part we are most proud of. When a stronger line would need a fact you never provided—a metric, a date, a tool—the workflow does not fill the gap. It keeps the line conservative and appends a literal [confirm] marker:

Reduced deployment time for the team's release pipeline [confirm: by how much?]

Those markers are your to-do list. Fill them in with real numbers, or delete the line. Either way, nothing goes out the door that the model made up and you didn't catch. The review step reminds you: lines marked [confirm] need a fact only you can supply—fill them in before sending anything out.

What this is and isn't

It is a fast way to produce a posting-specific resume and cover letter grounded in your real experience, with the tedious reframing done for you. It isn't a machine for inflating a thin resume—if the experience isn't there, the workflow will reorder and reword what is, and it will tell you where the gaps are rather than papering over them.

We think that trade is obvious once you've seen the alternative: an AI-embellished resume is a liability with your name on it.
